Pie's First Story
In a scene eerily reminiscent of the closing sequences of Casablanca, Man and Lady are perched atop the helicopter landing pad, facing one another intently.
Don’t go to work, Lady! the man says.
Lady turns to walk away, resolutely headed towards her place of employment.
Don’t walk to work! Come back! I want you!
They embrace, but the Lady is inexorable. Moments after her departure, a second Lady appears, looking out the window of the airport control tower.
Get out of my swamp! says the Lady. I want my swamp back!
Poor man.

Women are so hard to read, aren't we? ;-)
A valiant effort from the Pie.
I have a soft spot for Pie because that is my fiance's nickname for me. And I adore this story and the accompanying illustrations.
That's too funny. Poor man, indeed,
Poor hapless man. I'd read a book written by Pie. She's got talent.
Oh Pie, you talented girl!
I don't get it - but it made me smile.
thanks pie!
Already a stong-minded woman. That a girl, Pie!
Go, Pie, go!!! Too cute.
Lisa B - If it's the swamp part you don't get, let's just say we've been watching Shrek around here lately.
I was just about to write that you must be Shrek watchers. I see from your comment above that you are. Great story. Great photos of the story.
Oh my. Must be the week for interesting literary works from kids (not mine!). That Pie, she's a smart gal.
I didn't get the swamp bit, but now, given the Shrek emphasis, it makes perfect sense.
And who took the stunning photos? Really top-notch work. That together with the story makes that nearly a movie!
Did the Pie use the word "inexorable"? 'Cause that would've been really cool.
Like Julie, I also love the film noir look of the entire piece.
the black and white is a lovely touch
GET OUT OF MY SWAMP!
That's me, yelling at my neighbour's to get OUT OF MY YARD.
LOL! I actually did too.
Get out of my swamp. Heh-heh.
Maybe Pie should start co-authoring stories with Beck's Girl. Might be interesting.
Ah, and the black and white was the crowning touch.
I love it. :)
What a great story! Pie sounds like a born storyteller.
The swamp part made me laugh out loud I loved it.
Great story. And the swamp added a nice little twist to it.
I just spit my lunch onto my nice clean desk at work. Too funny.
That girl of yours is going to be mighty self-suffient.
Pie needs to get together with Beck's girl and write an anthology.
Get out of my swamp. LOL! Awesome!
Julie
Using My Words
I love the swamp diguised as a helicopter pad! Very clever.
I do love the addition of the swamp.
Great story Pie! A classic for the ages.
I'm enjoying the B&W rendering... so dramatic.
